BARE BONES
Materialising in 2013, Sydney’s Bare Bones wasted no time in taking their sweaty, visceral and feisty sound to the masses, quickly carving out their own path in the Australian music landscape.
Taking the DIY recording and producing approach on their first two EP’s ‘Villains’ and ‘Cut Throat Living’ paid dividends, seeing Bare Bones land marquee support set slots with Black Label Society, Northlane, Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats within their first three years. Moreover, Bare Bones were selected to play main stage at the final ever Soundwave Festival in Sydney, and UNIFY Heavy Music Gathering.
Fast forward to 2017, and the band signs a deal with iconic Australian heavy music label Resist Records (Parkway Drive, Mindsnare, Gaslight Anthem) and release their first full length record, ‘Bad Habits’.
A fierce album by anyone’s standards, Rolling Stone Magazine hailed it as “a hit record of the genre”. The album stamped the bands authority on the Aussie heavy music scene, and was supported by a date-heavy tour schedule with bands such as Stone Sour, Rise Against, The Bronx and Prophets of Rage.
With a new guitarist in the ranks and working alongside talented producer Stevie Knight and renowned mix engineer James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore, 36 Crazyfists), Bare Bones hit the studio once again to record their sophomore album ‘Rival Minds’. Released in November 2019, the album saw the band take their raucous sound to all new levels, seamlessly blending heavy metal, hardcore, punk and hard rock into an all out assault on the senses. The albums touring cycle was cut short due to the arrival of the Covid pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped the band from knuckling down to work on new material in the downtime.
With new tunes on the horizon, a string of high profile supports and heavyweight shows under their belt, Bare Bones are destined to make a lasting impact on both the Australian and global music scene.

REVIEW + ACCLAIM
"It’s not often you find a band, this early into their careers playing like they’ve been doing it for decades, but that goes to show just how professional and “about the music” Bare Bones truly are" - Wallofsound.com.au
"...they set the place on fire as they hit the stage and bombard right into it. These guys have been carving their name in around Australia lately and it’s really showing why tonight with the performance they give. Their riffs are ball breaking and the songs just tear through you, it’s some proper solid punk/hardcore writing" - Blankstreetpress.com.au
“Undoubtedly one of the sharpest young bands doing the rounds in the Aussie scene right now, Sydney quintet Bare Bones have continuously struck a firm balance between spitfire punk and heaving rock in bodaciously alluring fashion. For the few not already convinced Bare Bones are well on their way to infamy, Rival Minds is the definitive icing on the cake that cements this group as total game-changers, both locally and beyond our shores.” – Thesoundcheck.org
